“The UNEP Sustainable Innovation Forum was by far the most interesting and dynamic side event at COP19. Panelists had very different perspectives on issues, and were leaders in their fields, which made for lively debate. It’s also great to see so many organisations that are getting on and doing something – and not waiting for the negotiations down the road to come up with an agreement before they act.” Jane Burston, Head of Centre for Carbon Measurement,National Physical Laboratory
The purpose of the forum is to debate the actions, and showcase the technologies and solutions that can accelerate sustainable green growth and drive the global green economy. The forum also provides a unique platform for senior delegates from business, government and the not-for-profit sector to come together and build productive partnerships within the wider sustainability agenda.
Organised on behalf of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) alongside the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP), the forum generates robust debate and shares ideas, technology and solutions that can be turned into positive actions to climate-proof the post-2015 development agenda.
Debate and discussion will cover a range of pivotal issues within the climate change and sustainability agendas including energy transitions, low carbon infrastructures, technology innovation and transfer, partnerships, and sustainable urban growth.
